Diagnosis and Treatment of Head and Neck Cancer – The Pivotal Role of Imaging and Image Guidance

The symposium is focused on the pivotal role of imaging and image guidance in diagnosis and treatment of head and neck cancer. Apart from new insights in molecular biology and pathogenesis of cancer, including the role of HPV, and the breakthrough of immunotherapy, innovations in emerging technologies has slowly moved medical imaging to the center of diagnosis andtreatment of head and neck cancer during the last decades.

Nowadays, various applications of imaging not only play a central role in the diagnosis and staging of diseases, but also in active treatment of head and neck cancer as for follow-up. It has even proven to be the pivot of the multidisciplinary tumor board discussions for appropriate clinical decision making.

The symposium brings pitfalls in implementation of these recent achievements in daily clinical practice to the attention of the participants. Lectures by keynote speakers will bring you up to date on general knowledge and case report discussions are included to discuss implementation of the acquired knowledge.

Lectures and presentations aim at teaching and discussion on current advances and state of the art of diagnosis and treatment of head and neck cancer. The selection of the speakers represents the multidisciplinary character of this symposium.
