Radiation; technique and in vivo dosimetry

We use the SIB-VMAT technique to deliver radiation to the anus and/or groin.

This is a type of modulated rotational technique. The benefit of the technique is that the same treatment effects are reached with fewer side effects, compared to standard conformation treatment. Chemotherapy is administered as an outpatient treatment during which one of two cytostatics will be delivered through IV once, and the other will be administered orally. during the entire radiation period.

Within the radiation, we will use in vivo dosimetry at all times. This is an additional check which guarantees that the correct radiation dose is being delivered. This is vital to ensure a successful treatment.
