Medical oncologist Marleen Kok is to receive an NWO Vidi grant for her research into triple-negative breast cancer.

A small group of patients with triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) clearly benefits from immunotherapy with checkpoint inhibitors. Marleen Kok is researching how we can distinguish these patients, and wants to develop new types of immunotherapy for TNBC.

The Dutch Research Council (NWO) has awarded Vidi grants worth 800,000 euros to 78 experienced researchers. This will allow them to set up their own innovative research line over the coming five years. A total of 402 researchers submitted an admissible research project for funding. 78 of these requests have now been honored – an acceptance rate of 19%.
