I started working at the Netherlands Cancer Institute at the Radiotherapy Department in 2016. After obtaining my degree in medicine, I conducted PhD research into treatment for patients with rectal cancer. I decided to specialize in radiotherapy because this work combines care for cancer patients with the more technical side of medicine: preparing a radiation treatment plan that is optimized to the needs of every individual patient. The Netherlands Cancer Institute is a great and educational workplace, because the patients are central to their own treatment here, and we are involved in scientific research to further improve our treatments.
