I started working at the Netherlands Cancer Institute at the Radiation Oncology Department in 2016. After obtaining my degree in medicine, I conducted PhD research into treatment for patients with rectal cancer. I decided to specialize in radiotherapy because this work combines care for cancer patients with the more technical side of medicine: preparing a radiation treatment plan that is optimized to the needs of every individual patient. The Netherlands Cancer Institute is a great and educational place to work at because the institute places the patient at the center of their own treatment and because we conduct research to further improve our treatments.
