Pieter de Veij Mestdagh

After obtaining my medical degree, I worked as a physician (ANIOS) at the Netherlands Cancer Institute before working towards my specialization in radiation oncology. Many cancer patients will receive radiotherapy, and I am happy that we are able to help the majority of the patients we see. Sometimes we can offer curative treatment, while other times we can offer symptom relief through palliative treatment. Because many treatments at our hospital consist of a combination of radiotherapy, chemotherapy, and/or surgery, we truly need to collaborate as a team.

I combine my training with my PhD research into a less physically taxing form of radiotherapy for patients with head and neck tumors; our goal is to increase our patients' quality of life after treatment.
