Sophie Bosma

I have been working at the Netherlands Cancer Institute since 2013. I completed my education here and researched breast cancer, which resulted in promotion. In the meantime, I also started working as a radiotherapist in the HollandPTC, where I treat patients with breast- and esophageal cancer. For a selection of patients, side-effects with protons (in comparison to regular treatment with fotons) can be reduced. Besides that, I am still connected to the Netherlands Cancer Institute for the treatment of breastcancer with fotons. I strive to ensure every patient with the best fitting treatment. That is why I find so much pleasure in working at the NKI, where excellent care is delivered and research is being done to be able to provide this in the future as well.

Sinds 2013 ben ik werkzaam in het Antoni van Leeuwenhoek (AVL). Ik heb hier mijn opleiding tot radiotherapeut volbracht en onderzoek gedaan naar borstkanker, wat heeft geresulteerd in een promotie. Inmiddels ben ik als radiotherapeut werkzaam in het Holland protonen centrum (HPTC), waar ik patiënten met borstkanker en slokdarmkanker behandel met protonentherapie. Voor geselecteerde patiënten kunnen bijwerkingen met protonen (in vergelijking met reguliere bestraling met fotonen) worden verminderd. Daarnaast ben ik nog steeds verbonden aan het AVL voor de behandeling van borstkanker met fotonen. Het is mijn streven om iedere patiënt de beste passende behandeling te geven. Daarom werk ik met plezier in het AVL, waar uitstekende multidisciplinaire zorg wordt geleverd en onderzoek wordt verricht om ook in de toekomst zorg op maat te kunnen geven.
