Professor David Sebag-Montefiore
David Sebag-Montefiore is an academic clinical oncologist at the University of Leeds and honorary consultant in Clinical Oncology at Leeds Cancer Centre, Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. David leads the Leeds Radiotherapy Research Group and directs the CRUK Radiotherapy Research Centre of Excellence.
His research interests include colorectal, anal and radiotherapy research that focus on personalising radiotherapy in the primary and re-irradiation settings.
He is a Clinical Director of the CRUK Leeds Clinical Trial Unit and leads a portfolio of practice changing and innovative gastrointestinal cancer trials that use organ preservation strategies to avoid the need for radical surgery and colostomy.
His national leadership roles include previous chair of CRUK’s clinical trial committee (CTAAC), current Chair of the NCRI funded national radiotherapy research group CTRad. In 2019 he was awarded the Royal College of Radiologists’ Gold Medal.
