Immunotherapy for esophageal cancer

Immunotherapy is available for patients with several tumor types. A lot of research is being conducted into immunotherapy for other cancer types. It is not yet clear whether immunotherapy is effective in the treatment of esophageal cancer.

Immunotherapy is not a standard treatment for esophageal cancer. At the Netherlands Cancer Institute we currently have a trial running, looking into the benefits of additional treatment with immunotherapy after standard treatment for esophageal cancer.

We use strict criteria that patients need to meet before they can participate in this trial. Your practicing physician can tell you more about these.
