Antoni van Leeuwenhoek Patient Care Foundation

The Patient Care Foundation tries to make your stay at the Netherlands Cancer Institute as comfortable as possible. For example, we receive patients and caregivers with something to drink at the outpatient clinics, we provide flowers and plants for the central hall and waiting rooms, we provide a changing collection of framed reproductions and we visit patients with a mobile shop and a book cart.

In addition, we organize special activities, such as an afternoon around Easter and Christmas. The volunteers value personal attention for you, your family and loved ones and we try to improve the living environment of the patients and those involved in nursing.

The Patient Care Foundation is a disinterested organization, ANBI-registered, which is entirely dependent on the financial support of companies and individuals.

We are looking for volunteers who want to go around with the coffee cart once every 2 or 3 weeks for a morning or afternoon and volunteers for the magazines and book lending. As a volunteer at the AVL Patient Care Foundation, you are part of a group of more than 50 volunteers who, with their daily and weekly activities, contribute to an open atmosphere in which everyone feels at home. From Monday to Friday, they serve coffee and tea to patients and caregivers. Every week, patients can choose from an extensive collection of reproductions for their room, a book from the library or from the attractive assortment of the mobile shop or you can help the Patient Information Center distribute magazines at the various locations.
