Esther Wolthuis
I have been working at the Netherlands Cancer Institute since 2014. At the Netherlands Cancer Institute, I work as an anesthesiologist in the operating rooms, where we provide adequate anesthesia for mostly major operations. We also pay a lot of attention to good pain relief after surgery. As an intensivist, I am the responsible doctor in the Intensive Care Unit. This is where patients lie after major operations that we continuously monitor. There are also acutely ill patients in the Intensive Care Unit who are no longer able to breathe independently and/or maintain their blood pressure.
I am very happy that I can combine these two fields at the Netherlands Cancer Institute in order to optimally guide the patient through the entire process of the operation.
