I have been working at the Netherlands Cancer Institute since 2007. Initially as an anesthesiologist, since 2013 also at the department of pain medicine. I completed the training to become a pain specialist in 2014.

The treatment of cancer is getting better and better. More patients survive their disease, but they are more likely to have chronic pain as a result of treatment. In addition to medications and invasive pain treatments ("pain blocks"), self-care is the third, important direction in possibilities for the treatment of chronic pain, among other things. Scientific research substantiates that self-care leads to an improvement in chronic pain and quality of life. My interest is in this form of pain treatment, in order to make individual pain treatments even more tailor-made.
