Mirjam Boelens
I have been working at the Netherlands Cancer Institute since 2012. First as a breast cancer researcher, and since 2018 as a Clinical Molecular Biologist in Pathology (KMBP) in training at Molecular Diagnostics. In this laboratory, the genetic characteristics of tumors are determined that can be important for making the correct diagnosis, but also for choosing the best treatment. We look for changes in the DNA for which targeted therapy ('tailor-made treatment') is possible, a spearhead at the Netherlands Cancer Institute. The fact that I can contribute to this with our team motivates me enormously and gives me a lot of satisfaction.
