Since November 2013 I have been working as a gastroenterologist at the Netherlands Cancer Institute. The NKI is a pleasant hospital to work in because there is an intensive and accessible collaboration with the various disciplines, such as radiotherapists, surgeons and radiologists. Everyone has the same goal in mind, namely to provide high-quality patient care.
Furthermore, a lot of research is done at the Netherlands Cancer Institute and I think that is a very important aspect of high-quality care, because only by doing a lot of research can that care ultimately improve. In the Research and Treatment Center (OBC) I perform gastrointestinal endoscopies and endo-ultrasounds. On an outpatient basis, I am mainly involved in the treatment of people with esophageal cancer, stomach cancer and hereditary stomach cancer.
