Monique van Leerdam

After working at the Erasmus Medical Center in Rotterdam for a number of years, I have been working at the Netherlands Cancer Institute since 2011. Caring for patients with cancer is often complicated. That is why good cooperation between the different disciplines is crucial.

At the Netherlands Cancer Institute, I am part of a multidisciplinary team treating patients with (benign precursors of) cancer of the gastrointestinal tract. In the field of research, I have specialized in hereditary gastrointestinal tumors, colorectal cancer and the early detection of tumors. If cancer is detected at an early stage, the outcome for the patient is significantly better.

Monique van Leerdam is professor of prevention in hereditary gastrointestinal tumors.
