Larissa van Golen

Since March 2021, I have been working as a nuclear physician at the Netherlands Cancer Institute (NKI). I am involved in the diagnosis of PET/CT in particular and the treatment of different types of tumors. My specific interest is in image-guided treatments.

After my PhD research (Amsterdam UMC, location VUmc) and my training as a nuclear medicine physician (Amsterdam UMC, location AMC), I did a fellowship at UMC Utrecht. Here I was able to specialize in radionuclide therapies - treatments using radiolabeled substances. I have gained a lot of experience with the minimally invasive treatment of liver tumors by means of radioembolization with radioactive microspheres. I am also specifically interested in the diagnosis beforehand and the evaluation afterwards. I also like to focus on the diagnosis and treatment of neuroendocrine tumors and prostate cancer.

I get a lot of satisfaction from my work at the NKI, a unique location where everything revolves around the patient with an oncological care need. Through intensive cooperation within our own team and with the adjacent specialties, we get the best out of both the clinical and scientific side of oncological diagnostics and treatment.
