Jana van der Sar
I have been working at the Netherlands Cancer Institute since 1997. First as an oncology nurse and then as a nurse specialist in pharmacology. At the beginning of 2014 I started working as a nurse specialist for neuro-oncology. Most patients with a brain tumor will encounter me throughout the treatment process. I always try to make sure that the patient goes out with a good feeling and a smile. With a team of specialists, we stand around the patient and make a treatment plan. Personal care is central to this because no patient is the same and the consequences of a brain tumor are different for everyone. That personal care is what appeals to me so much about working at the Netherlands Cancer Institute.
Some patients receive treatment in a study context. I guide these patients in the medical and nursing fields, I keep a close eye on the patient, ensure that the study procedures run smoothly and that all research data is collected correctly.
From September 2020, I am also the permanent contact person for patients with Li-Fraumeni syndrome (LFS). My goal is to optimize the planning and care for this group of patients.
