Joost Knegjens
In 2003 I started training as a radiation oncologist at the Netherlands Cancer Institute. I have been a permanent staff member since 2008. I have specialized in the treatment of lung cancer, small cell lung carcinoma and the combination of radiation with chemotherapy or other drugs. In addition, I am involved in stereotactic radiotherapy, both in the body and in the head. In this process, small tumors are irradiated with great precision with a very high radiation dose. In the case of radiation in the head, the Gamma Knife is also used. Finally, as a trainer, I am responsible for the training of the radiotherapy physician assistants.
The intensive contact with patients, the close cooperation with other departments and colleagues and the advanced technical aspects of a treatment make my work very interesting.
