As a radiation specialist (radiation oncologist) I have focused on the treatment of lung cancer. Radiotherapy of a lung tumor that moves during breathing is a major challenge, which we have made our focus of together with our group of physicists.
For example, in the preparation of the radiation, we specialize in the use of imaging of multiple modalities, and in terms of the execution of the radiation, we can monitor how the tumor behaves on a daily basis. In this way, we ensure an exceptionally high quality of radiation.
With the introduction of new radiation techniques, such as stereotactic radiation, we are able to cure a high percentage of patients for early stages of lung cancer. By conducting clinical research, we are trying to allow a larger group of lung cancer patients to benefit from these new techniques.
