Maria Roosen

Rainbow

Maria Roosen designed 'Rainbow' especially for the entrance hall of the hospital. Almost four hundred glass colored balls hang diagonally through the hall at different heights. Between the spheres float gold-leaf-covered charms of an anchor, a ladybug, a heart and a key. The artist, who works a lot with glass, has chosen the spherical shape because for her this is the most primary, warm and comforting form that arises naturally when blowing glass. The color scheme is inspired by the colors of a rainbow. The different sizes and heights in which the spheres and charms are hung create movement. They follow the color gradient of the rainbow: from violet, to blue, to green, to yellow, orange, red and pink.
