My favorite place en Interieur / Rokin

This painting by Marjan Jaspers shows an interior. From a room with an armchair you have a view of a lake, where a fishing boat slowly glides by. In the work Interieur/ Rokin, the view is not about the stillness but about the active outside world; here we see the Rokin with pedestrians and a tram. The contrast between the silence of the room and the outside world is great.

Marian Jaspers: "Out of curiosity for new media, I look for opportunities to fit them into my paintings. In these two works you can see how moving images fit into the static interior. I made the video for My favorite place in France. The subjects for my work arise from my immediate environment; I never have to look for it."
