Breast cancer - hereditary
If cancer runs in your family (such as breast cancer, ovarian cancer or prostate cancer), there may be a hereditary or familial predisposition.
In hereditary predisposition, a change in one of the breast cancer-related genes has been found. We call this a gene mutation. If no gene mutation has been found, but the family tree does fit with hereditary predisposition, then it is referred to as a familial predisposition to breast cancer.
Our clinical geneticist can estimate your risk of breast cancer based on your family data, drawing up a family tree and a possible DNA test. Based on this, the clinical geneticist will advise you on periodic check-ups and preventive measures.
Your health insurer will reimburse the costs of genetic testing through the basic package. However, the deductible is used in this case.
