Ilona Spaan

I have been working at the Netherlands Cancer Institute since 2020. After my work as a tropical doctor in Tanzania, I trained as an anesthesiologist-intensivist in Amsterdam. As an anesthesiologist, I contribute to the anesthesia and pain management of patients undergoing surgery. The goal is to safely endure the operation and wake up as comfortably as possible afterwards. As an intensivist, I take care of the critically endangered patient in the ICU who suddenly has to be admitted or who has just undergone major surgery.

For me, the Netherlands Cancer Institute is: knowledge and skills that are used for personal and human care.
