Nienke van Trommel
After a fellowship in gynaecological oncology at the Centre for Gynaecological Oncology Amsterdam (CGOA), of which the NKI is also a part, I have been working at the NKI since 2016. In a multidisciplinary team, we treat women with gynecological tumors such as ovarian cancer, cervical cancer, labia cancer, vaginal cancer and trophoblastic diseases (cancer and its precancerous stages of the placenta). Together with this multidisciplinary team and the patient, we determine what the optimal treatment is for each unique patient.
At the Netherlands Cancer Institute, I combine patient care with conducting scientific research. My areas of interest are research into cervical cancer and its prevention and research into trophoblast tumors.
Outside the hospital, I am active as secretary of the World Organization for Women with Gestational Trophrooms (ISSTD), former secretary of the European Organization of Gestational Gestational Diseases (EOTTD) and chairman of the Amsterdam Trophoblast team (ATT).
