I am specialized in DNA diagnostics, both genetic testing as well as molecular pathology (DNA from tumors). I try to use new improved techniques whenever possible, such as High Resolution Meltingcurve-analyse (HRM) which we have been using successfully over the past years in our diagnostics. Using DNA diagnostics, we can investigate people's hereditary risk as well as predict the treatment type that will be most successful for every patient.
It is fascinating to see the discoveries and developments in the field and to be able to put them into practice. Since coming to the NKI in 2008, I have witnessed many important steps. Because I analyze hereditary factors in DNA taken from blood, as well as changes to the tumor DNA, my work has a lot of variation and remains challenging.
