Erik van Muilekom
I have been working at the Netherlands Cancer Institute since 1991, after having worked as an oncology nurse for a number of years and as a manager since 1999, as a nurse specialist. After working for the Board of Directors of the NKI for two years (2004-2006), I have been fully focused on urological oncology since 2006.
My focus is mainly on prostate cancer, from early diagnosis to treatment across the full spectrum of the disease, the early diagnosis of prostate cancer and penile cancer, sexuality and cancer and erectile dysfunction. Personal attention, respect and tailor-made treatment and guidance go hand in hand in the NKI, and is the guideline for my own work. The combination of good standard care and guidance of patients in clinical scientific research particularly appeals to me and motivates me in my daily work.
