José van den Berg

I have been working at the Netherlands Cancer Institute since April 2016. Before that, I worked for 9 years as a pathologist in the Pathological Anatomical Laboratory of a peripheral hospital. I started working at the Netherlands Cancer Institute because it is precisely here that the latest developments in the field of (molecular) pathology are directly applied for personalized treatment.

At the Netherlands Cancer Institute, the patient is really central and we work in a multidisciplinary way to provide tailor-made treatment. It is great to be able to contribute to this, in diagnostics and in research. My areas of interest are tumors of the gastrointestinal tract (including neuroendocrine tumors), skin abnormalities and tumors of the breast.

She is now the head of the medical department of the pathology department.

In the multidisciplinary consultation, the patient really goes for your life. This is important, because it makes the profession even more relevant and encourages us to do the very best for the patient.
