Since September 1, 2021, I have been working as a Healthcare Psychologist at the Center for Quality of Life (CKvL) in the Antonie van Leeuwenhoek. During my studies in Psychology, I became interested in the interaction between body and mind.
The diagnosis and treatment of cancer has a major impact on both physical functioning and mental well-being. I think it is important to reflect on this during treatment and to draw up an appropriate treatment plan together with the patient to reduce the psychological complaints. Treatment may include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), or Managing Cancer and Living Meaningfully therapy (CALM).
The advantage of the NKI is that optimal care can be provided through good cooperation with colleagues from other disciplines. In addition to therapy, I also conduct scientific research into the implementation and improvement of psychological patient care.
