After my training as a radiation oncologist at the LUMC, I obtained my PhD in 2002 for research into the treatment of rectal cancer. After my PhD, I enjoyed working at the Netherlands Cancer Institute as a radiation oncologist for four years. It is therefore very nice to be back as medical cluster head of radiotherapy after a period of ten years as head of department at the LUMC.

The cooperation both inside and outside the department, the enthusiasm of all employees and the extensive research that takes place, makes the Netherlands Cancer Institute a special hospital. Everyone makes an effort to provide the best possible care for our patients and that makes me work here every day with great satisfaction.
