I have been working as a spiritual counselor with an Islamic background and a lot of respect for other worldviews at the Netherlands Cancer Institute since 2021. I once encountered a beautiful text: "This is our first time alive, no one knows how it's done". And that's true. We humans encounter many ups and downs throughout our lives. we all need a shoulder to lean on sometimes. As a spiritual counselor, I guide patients and their loved ones in dealing with their condition, the changing surroundings, experiences with loss and mourning, and in their final phase of life.
