I have been working as a coach since 2015 to help people quit smoking. Before that, I worked as an oncology nurse in a department where people with cancer are treated. As a result, I know well what patients are going through in this situation.
Quitting smoking is often difficult. During cancer treatment, it is even more difficult. However, the treatment can also be an extra reason to stop. Guidance through the Stop-Smoking Clinic helps with this. Together with the patient, I look at what is needed to make the cessation successful. I think that's a great challenge.
The guidance is mainly about becoming aware of habits, explaining how addiction works and choosing together whether aids are needed. These aids are reimbursed by health insurance.
