On 10 March, 2023, the Dutch government decided that the last measures against COVID-19, the coronavirus, can be eliminated. According to the National Outbreak Management Team (OMT), COVID-19 is no longer a pandemic. The virus is now part of our everyday lives. This means that the Netherlands Cancer Institute will also further downscale its COVID-19 measures. We are able to take this step because the resistance against COVID-19 in the Netherlands is high, and very few people develop serious symptoms after infection with the current variants.
Patients and staff at the Netherlands Cancer Institute no longer need to keep a social distance or wear a face mask if social distancing is not an option. There are certain circumstances in which our staff will wear face masks, however.
Do you have an appointment at the NKI and are you experiencing respiratory symptoms (a stuffed nose, sneezing, a sore throat, coughing, shortness of breath) or a fever, please contact us at +31 (0)20 – 512 9111. Our staff will determine whether your appointment or admission can safely continue as planned.
Can your appointment continue as planned despite your symptoms? Please wear a face mask when you come to the NKI. You can find free face masks at the main entrance. We may take extra precautions to prevent the spread of the virus.
Is your visitor or support person experiencing respiratory symptoms (a stuffed nose, sneezing, a sore throat, coughing, shortness of breath) or a fever? We kindly request your visitor or support person not to come to our hospital.
