John Haanen
Since 2001 I have been working as an internist-oncologist at the Netherlands Cancer Institute (NKI). I specialize in the treatment of patients with metastatic melanoma or renal cell cancer. In addition to patient care, I am medical cluster head of the Medical Oncology Disciplines and I am involved in research, especially in the field of strengthening one's own defenses against cancer. There have been many developments in this area in recent years.
Fortunately, treatment options for metastatic melanoma and renal cell cancer have improved. And although we cannot speak of a cure, patients with metastatic melanoma or renal cell cancer live longer on average thanks to the development of new treatment methods. By conducting research, my team is trying to improve this survival even further.
