Baukelien van Triest

Since 2008 I have been working at the Netherlands Cancer Institute in the Radiation Oncology department. My specialization is the radiation of people with anal cancer and rectal tumors. The challenge of this profession is to work with the patient to arrive at a treatment that suits this patient, a tailor-made treatment. It is also very stimulating to do this together with colleagues from other disciplines in our own hospital or in another hospital. I combine my clinical work with research and this gives even more opportunities to arrive at a real tailor-made treatment. It is very motivating to see that by knowing more about the specific tumor of a particular patient, we can make an increasingly better choice for the best treatment. I think it is important to look at people as a whole.
