Regina Beets-Tan
Since 2015, I have been working as a radiologist at the Netherlands Cancer Institute and lead a very dedicated and skilled radiology team. Our team goes for the best service for the patient and a high quality of diagnostics.
My specialization is imaging of cancers in the abdomen and in particular colon cancer. In addition to patient care, I am involved in research. This focuses on new developments in imaging techniques to predict how a treatment will work.
I also conduct research into the role of imaging in new forms of treatment. For example, a joint study with the Department of Surgery has shown that in patients with rectal cancer, who respond very well to radiation and where the tumor has completely disappeared, a wait-and-see policy with intensive monitoring can be a good alternative to surgery with a better quality of life. Modern imaging allows a precise selection of the patients who benefit from this treatment.
