Marielle Ruijs
Since 2009 I have been working as a clinical geneticist at the Netherlands Cancer Institute (NKI). I see many breast cancer patients, but also patients with other tumors, such as colon cancer, sarcomas, melanoma, brain tumors or kidney cancer.
My area of interest is Li-Fraumeni syndrome. This is a rare hereditary disorder, in which various forms of cancer can occur (such as breast cancer, brain tumors and sarcomas), often at a young age. I obtained my PhD on this subject in 2010. The guidance and screening of people with Li-Fraumeni syndrome is further mapped and improved in the NKI.
