Naomi Numan

Since May 2023, I have been working at the Netherlands Cancer Institute as a nurse in training to become a specialist in internal oncological urology. Before this, I worked as a urology nurse at the UMC Utrecht and as a research nurse at the Diakonessenhuis Utrecht.

Within my work, I focus on the care of patients with prostate, bladder and penile cancer, focusing mainly on drug treatments, such as chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy and hormonal therapy. These are used both in standard care and within research contexts. For me, good care goes beyond treatment alone: it is also about proximity, personal guidance and looking together for solutions to the challenges that come with illness and therapy. Especially in situations where curative treatment is no longer possible, meaningful support remains essential.

Another important area of focus for me is the care of young men with testicular cancer, both during treatment and in follow-up. These patients are often within the AYA age (18–39 years). In this phase of life, there are often different questions and challenges than with older patients, making age-appropriate care and guidance of great importance.

In combination with the latest scientific developments and a strong multidisciplinary collaboration, we together ensure the best possible tailor-made care at the Netherlands Cancer Institute.
