Alexander Schmitz

Since 2022, I have been working as a radiologist at the Netherlands Cancer Institute. I was trained in the Amsterdam region (OLVG and Amsterdam UMC) and obtained my PhD at UMC Utrecht in the field of characterization of cancer using imaging, with a focus on breast cancer.

I specialize in neuro, head and neck and chest radiology. In addition, I am scientifically active, especially in the field of early diagnosis of lung cancer and the application of artificial intelligence within radiology.

What appeals to me at the Netherlands Cancer Institute is the close multidisciplinary collaboration. Together with colleagues from different specialties, I like to contribute to the best possible care for every patient.
