DMSA renal scan

What is a DMSA renal scan?

A DMSA renal scan is used to examine the function of each individual kidney to detect potential function damage. A small amount of radioisotopes will be administered through IV before the procedure. This radioactive solution will give a clearer image of the kidneys, allowing us to make calculations. We recommend that you drink half a liter of water while waiting for the start of the procedure.

Duration

The procedure will take 30 minutes. Please also consider a wait time of 3 hours.

After the procedure

You can go home directly after the procedure.

Results

Your practicing physician will discuss your results with you during your next consultation.
