PET/CT scan Dotatate

What is a PET/CT scan Dotatate?

Neuroendocrine tumors often have unique receptors. Dotatate resembles somatostatine and binds to these neuroendocrine tumor receptors in the same way. Administering a small dose of dotatate before the PET/CT scan will allow us to see these receptors.

This small dose of radioactive agent won’t harm you and leaves the body through urination. You will need to drink half a liter of water one hour before coming in for your scan.
